Kailua MOPS is designed to be a place where mothers feel free to care and share their feelings and concerns with other mothers. However, MOPS is not just for Moms, but for their children too! The purpose of the MOPPETS program is to:
offer a warm and loving place where your child(ren) can come and be nurtured in a safe, stimulating Christian environment as well as experience the love of God,
offer a place where each child feels good about themselves,
offer a place where each child receives quality care and teaching.
We therefore request that the following guidelines be followed.

* These guidelines have been set so that ALL Moms can get the most out of the meetings. Please know that your children are in great, loving hands and the teachers/Childcare workers will do their very best to make your kids happy while at MOPPETS.

1. Classes Nursery 6-18 months Toddlers 18-36 months PreSchool 3-5 years
NOTE: Children are not promoted during the semester unless absolutely necessary.

2. Please take your child to the classroom in which he/she is enrolled and plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. in order to sign your child in and specify any instructions on feeding or help in case of fussiness.

3. Children are requested not to bring special toys to class, as this creates problems with sharing and the possible loss of the toy.

4. Children who are showing signs of illness must remain at home. Please do not bring sick children with you during the MOPS session. Here are a few guidelines to follow to determine whether your child is too sick to bring to MOPPETS:

- Nasal discharge other than clear within 24 hours
- Fever, rash, diarrhea, vomiting within 24 hours
- Cough within 24 hours
- Discharge from eyes within 24 hours

If in doubt, check with your pediatrician. The MOPPETS Coordinator will notify the mother to pick up their child if the child develops symptoms of illness while at MOPPETS. If your child develops a communicable illness (such as strep throat, pink eye, etc.), please notify the MOPPETS Coordinator so we can notify others and clean rooms accordingly.

5. Allergies/Special Medical Problems/Medications: Make sure that your child’s teacher is aware of any allergies, special medical problems or medications that your child is taking, or any special needs your child may have during the morning. It would be helpful to let the teacher know if your child has had a rough morning. This helps the teacher better understand and respond to your child‘s needs. We are sorry but our Childcare workers are not allowed to administer medication to children.

6. Behavior Issues: If your child has aggressive behavioral issues such as hitting, pinching or biting while at MOPPETS, your child’s teacher will inform you at pick-up time. If this behavior occurs repeatedly, your child will need to be removed from the MOPPETS program until he/she can behave appropriately. This time will be determined by you and the teacher or MOPPETS Coordinator. Please understand we know children go through stages of experimental behavior but we need to keep a safe, hygienic environment for all.

7. With the exception of nursing babies, children must remain in their classrooms for the time the mothers meet (9:00 - 11:00 a.m.). Be assured that you will be contacted if any problems with your child arise. * PLEASE refrain from checking on your children during the meeting. The MOPPETS workers are willing to care for your child, even if they cry. We have a 15 minute rule before we notify the Mom (or as appropriate for the situation without disrupting all children), unless otherwise instructed by you.

8. Children over 6 months of age attending MOPS should be enrolled in the MOPPETS Nursery program. This is to allow mothers to have a break, time to fellowship, get involved in creative activities and participate in discussions as appropriate. Children under 6 months may remain in the MOPS meeting room with their mothers. Please excuse yourself if your baby is fussy so as not to disrupt the meeting. behavior but we need to keep a safe, hygienic environment for all.

9. Babies checked into the Nursery need to have their nametag put on their back at check-in time. In addition, they need to indicate whether they are allowed to eat cheerios or have a sippie cup with water provided by the nursery Childcare workers. On the sign-in sheet, include any specific instructions, e.g. when the baby needs to be fed or put to bed.

10. Please label all contents of your diaper bag (bags, bottles, etc). Include a change of clothing for your child(ren) and extra diapers. Please keep personal items to a minimum. If your child is potty training, please advise the Childcare workers and pack extra clothes as appropriate.

11. Please pick up your child(ren) after MOPS ends at 11:00 a.m. Most of our MOPPETS program staff are volunteers who need to attend to the rest of their day. Please be appreciative of their service.

* Please see MOPPETS Coordinator with any questions or concerns with your MOPPETS experience.
